Americaís heritage wine, ZINFANDEL, is grown throughout California. This grape has a long, celebrated and cherished position as the premier varietal produced in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County. Dan Teldeschi
Winemaker and owner Dan Teldeschi has been making wine since he was a young boy. He was schooled in wine making by his father, Frank, a well known grower, and Dan gained expertise in winery production work when he ran the lab at Frei Bros. Winery (now Gallo of Sonoma) in the 80's. Dan opened his winery in the early 90's. Using his high degree of expertise, he makes and offers wines not often found outside of his winery.
Using the grapes grown from the 70 acres of the Teldeschi Vineyards, Danís bottled production includes Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Valdiguie, Cabernet Franc and his unique blends of Terranova, Terraluna and Cinque Terre. In addition, vintages of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel Port and a late harvest Muscat Canelli are also available.
Today most of the grapes grown on the 70 acres are sold by contract to Ravenswood and purchases by a few smaller wineries. The same estate grown fruit annually sold is used in Danís production at the winery. The production of wine from Teldeschi estate grown grape is currently limited to the Terraluna blend, some Zinfandel and Valdiguie.
Winemaker Gary Finch started his introduction as a winemaker learning some of the craft from a small bonded winery and winemaker in Napa Valley in early 1992. His love for Zinfandel and hearty red wines eventually brought him to Dry Creek Valley at the northwest part of Sonoma County. After numerous trips covering three years in Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley he visited, for the third time, Dan Teldeschi owner and winemaker at F. Teldeschi Winery. Gary and Dan discussed wine and other subjects over a period of a year when Gary and his wife Jane came to visit. He volunteered to assist at the three major events held at the winery each year starting in 1998. The friendship between Dan and Gary grew along with Gary's appreciation and knowledge of wine making. They are now partners in foryouwines offering and selling their wines to both wholesale and retail customers.
As he has for several years, Gary assists Dan each fall during crush as they work together and recently with Dan's brother John, they produce superior quality wines. Gary sources fruit from other vineyards that have ended up under either of their labels as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. But making Zinfandel is still his passion and signature work using Teldeschi estate grown zinfandel grape from Dry Creek Valley. As Gary says, "God kissed this valley and blessed me with some ability. My quest is to make wine and share the love, salute."
